Women's Challenge Cup Final draw: First leg in Samobor, second match in Most

The first leg of the 2012/13 Women's Challenge Cup Final will be played on the home court of ŽRK Samobor on 4/5 May, the second leg on the ground of Baník Most one week later.

The home right in each of the final legs was determined on Tuesday, 16 April, at the EHF Office in Vienna. Exact dates and times of the final matches will be confirmed soon.

The winning team will succeed HAC Havre on the list of the Challenge Cup holders. The French team took part in the EHF Cup in this season reaching the Last 16.

Samobor can become the second Croatian club with a European trophy after Podravka Vegeta lifted the Women's EHF Champions League trophy in 1996.

"This season is a huge experience for us. We have been trying to do as best as we could in all matches and suddenly we are in the final. Our hall is always full and for the final it will be even more packed. In my opinion this will be a 50-50 affair and we can expect two very tight matches," secretary general Sandra Novak stated.

For the "Black Angels" from Most this season is history in the making not only on the club level but also nation-wide as no Czech team ever got that far in the European club competitions organised by the EHF.

Baník play only their second season in Europe as they were eliminated in the quarter-finals by the later winners from Havre last year.

"This is the most succesful season in our history. We won the joint Czech-Slovak league and made it all the way to the final. This is a reward for our work in the past years. Currently, we are receiving a really positive feedback not only from the city of Most, but from all Czech handball community. Our club has become a phenomenon in the city and there is a huge demand for the tickets, we expect the hall to be totally packed. We believe in ourselves and hope we can win this final," the representative of Baník Radek Maděra said after the draw.
