Györ's new girl cannot hide her excitement ahead of the second leg against Valcea

'We are expecting a fantastic atmosphere,' says Rédei-Soós

Viktória Rédei-Soós has had a breakout season, a season which began with her transfer to Győri Audi ETO KC last summer from Hypo NÖ and a subsequent call up to the Hungarian national team for the EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia.

In her first season with Győr, she and her team have gone unbeaten throughout the Women’s EHF Champions League season and they are currently preparing for the second leg of their semi-final against Olthcim Rm. Valcea with a two goal lead from the first leg.

"It's a great feeling to play in the semi-finals and in addition to wait for the return match. When I played in Hypo I tasted the feeling of the Women's EHF Champions League and I really liked it.

“I'm happy to be the member of a team like Győr and furthermore to play in Hungary. Everything is focused on the players' development here.

“Speaking about me I guess I didn’t settle in the team until December, but now everything is getting better and better. I feel that they count on me here in Győr and also in the national team," said Rédei-Soós.

Although Rédei-Soós is still improving her English, it is not a problem for her to communicate with her teammates.

"I speak in Spanish with Ambros Martín and in German with the foreign girls, so we didn't have language problems. The international language is English and the club is offering English lessons each week with a teacher to improve our knowledge," said the 27-year-old.

Győr's girls had a rest day on Sunday, and they also had just one training on Monday. The squad will prepare in Veszprém, where they will meet Valcea on Thursday 11 April at 19:00 CET.

"We had some physical trainings, but now we rather prefer tactical and some speed trainings in the afternoons.

“Ambros Martín is a good person and also a great coach. He likes fast handball against 6-0 defence and also prefers some individual attack play and one against one play.

“It's clear that we have learnt many things from him because we have reached the semi-finals," said Rédei-Soós.

There is pressure on the Hungarian team after their 22:24 win in the first match in Romania, giving them a narrow lead going into the return leg.

"It's better that we won the first leg, because the pressure would be much worse if we had lost. This will be the second match of the semi-finals so there is definitely pressure, but it is great to be here for all of us. I have never reached so far the Champions League," admitted the right back.

Győr are expecting a full house as all of the 5000 tickets in the Veszprém Aréna have been sold and "Sóska" is very excited about the prospect.

"We are expecting a fantastic atmosphere. Right now I cannot even imagine it just if I step to the arena.

“It's a huge thing to play for such a vast amount of Hungarian people. When they started to sell the tickets we just arrived to training. There was an endless line next to our arena, and first we could not believe the people were here only because of us and our match.

“I can say for myself and my teammates that we don't want to disappoint them," concluded Rédei-Soós.
