Byzdra third Polish player in Budućnost’s history

Kinga Byzdra is the second reinforcement for Budućnost, after Danish Camilla Dalby from Randers joined the Montenegrin club recently. Although she reached the agreement in the middle of March, the Polish player from KGHM Metraco Zaglebie Lubin came to Podgorica last weekend and signed a three-year contract with the last year’s Women´s EHF Champions League winner.

Budućnost president Predrag Bošković and sports director Bojana Popović welcomed a 24-year-old Byzdra who was named best Polish player in 2012.

“She took advantage of a break in the Polish championship before the start of the play-offs to come to Podgorica. She signed a contract and got familiar with the system of work in our club. We are satisfied that we got great players like Byzdra. She’s a young and promising player,” said Bojana Popović.

Byzdra has chosen the jersey number 89. “We are pleased with the fact that Byzdra didn’t hide her satisfaction about coming to Budućnost. Her mother played handball, she is coming from a handball family. Her short stay in Podgorica and familiarization with work in Budućnost, will certainly help her in the adaptation when she will join the rest of the team before the start of next season,” Bojana Popović added.

Kinga Byzdra is the third Polish player in Budućnost’s history, after Monika Marzec and Izabela Puchacz played for Montenegrin champions from 2003 to 2005. In this season of the EHF Cup she was the best scorer of Lubin netting 33 times in six matches.

“Calls from other clubs I had are nothing compared to the challenges that Budućnost brings. I know what awaits me in Podgorica, tough work, but a fantastic atmosphere in the club who is like a family in which I have the best chance to advance. It took me just a few seconds to decide. For a long time I wanted to play EHF Champions League, that was the plan for this summer. A call from the Budućnost was like a dream. I just thought ´this is a chance of my career´ and I said yes!" Byzdra said.

Byzdra, who can cover left and center back position, explained that she joined Budućnost because od quality of work of coach Dragan Adžić and his staff.

“Budućnost is a stable club, with a fantastic coach. Of course, the thing which motivated me further is the fact that Bojana Popović is a sport director of the club, and that I will be able to learn a lot from her. Bojana was my role model from the days when I fell in love with handball,” Byzdra added.
