Matches of the week for quarter-finals confirmed

Two domestic derbies - BM Atlético Madrid vs FC Barcelona Intersport and HSV Hamburg vs SG Flensburg-Handewitt are the Matches of the Week for the VELUX EHF Champions League Quarter-finals broadcast by ehftv.com with English commentary by Tom Ó Brannagáin.

For the first leg of the quarter-finals Tom will travel to Spain where Atlético, winners of the EHF Champions League in 2006, 2008 and 2009, will take on record seven-time champions from Barcelona, who lost the only match of this season on the court of Füchse Berlin, where Madrid surprisingly clinched their berth in the top eight last Sunday.

Seven rounds before the end of the Spanish championship Barcelona are on the leading position having not lost a single point and five points ahead of their arc-rivals.

The match will throw off on Saturday, 20 April, at 19:00 hrs local time.

For the second leg it is back north again for Tom as he heads to the magnificent O2 World in Hamburg, where he will commentate the match between local side HSV and their bundesliga rivals SG Flensburg Handewitt.

The exciting all-German clash will answer the question whether Hamburg will make it to the VELUX EHF FINAL4 for the second time in three years or Flensburg will experience their big premiere at the climax of the European club handball of the year.

Both teams have already met twice this season in the group phase as they both won their home matches by three goals.

The Northern derby throws off on Sunday, 28 April, 18.30 hrs local time.

The Matches of the Week include a free of charge live web stream on ehftv.com with English commentary by handball expert Tom Ó Brannagáin. They also offer additional footage and special camera setups.

Tom, an Irish national, is a former handball player and coach of the Ireland national team. He has a long career in television and radio in Ireland.
