Fan party with the players and trophy in Cologne

One of the new side events planned for the fourth edition of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 will give all fans in Cologne the opportunity to see and meet their favourite players just hours before they enter the final race for the coveted trophy.

The VELUX EHF FINAL4 Team leader David Szlezak hinted on the fringes of the VELUX EHF Champions League Quarter-finals draw, there will be a lot of entertainment on offer for all handball lovers in front of the LANXESS Arena on Friday (31 May) evening from 18:00 hrs.

“We are trying to improve every detail and create a perfect show for the fans. Handball is the centre of the whole weekend, but we also want to bring entertainment to the fans. This year we are establishing a fan party on the Friday evening in front of the LANXESS arena,” Szlezak revealed.

“All four participating teams will be presented on the centre stage and players will give short interviews.”

Besides the handball stars, there will be another temptation for the fans to join the party as the glorious winners’ trophy will be presented on the stage as well, two days before it lands in the hands of the new champions.

“The trophy will arrive to the fans and there will be a photo opportunity where the fans can get a picture with the trophy,” the event manager said.

Furthermore, EHF Marketing together with the official supplier of the premier continental club competition adidas also plan to use this special event to present the new match ball for the VELUX EHF Champions League.

After the quarter-finals draw determined the pairings, it is sure now the colourful palette of spectators will meet in the city on the banks of Rhine.

“We already know that there will be one team from Spain, at least one team from Germany and there will be also some fresh blood coming to Cologne as we will have one debutant from the match between Kielce and Skopje. However, all of the quarter-finals will be very tough games as there are no weak teams at this stage of the competition,” predicted Szlezak.
