Seeding for the quarter-finals draws

Eight teams are one step closer to the coveted trophy of the VELUX EHF Champions League after the Last 16 stage concluded on Sunday. Three German, two Spanish, one Hunarian, one Polish and one Macedonian side made it to the quarter-finals as the attention of not only their fans will be drawn to Tuesday now, when the draw of the last knock-out stage before the VELUX EHF FINAL4 will take place at the EHF Office in Vienna at 11:00 hrs local time.

The winners of the last 16 matches between 3rd placed and 2nd placed teams of the group phase (SG Flensburg Handewitt, THW Kiel, HC Metalurg and Atlético Madrid) will play the first match at home against a winner of the Last 16 matches between 4th placed and 1st placed teams of the group phase (HSV Hamburg, MKB Veszprém KC, Vive Targi Kielce and FC Barcelona Intersport).

There will be no protection from the teams from the same country or from the teams from the same group of the group phase what means that Hamburg can meet Flensburg or Kiel and Barcelona can face Atlético.

The matches of the first leg are scheduled for 17-21 April, the second leg duels will follow 24-28 April.

The winning teams of the quarter-finals qualify for the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in Cologne (1 and 2 June 2013).
