Seedings for the quarter-finals draws

Just two days after the completion of the VELUX EHF Champions League Last 16 and the Men´s EHF Cup Group Phase the quarter-finals pairings of both competitions will be determined. The draw of the VELUX EHF Champions League Quarter-finals will take place on Tuesday 26 March at 11:00 hrs local time at the EHF Office in Vienna, followed by the draw of the Men´s EHF Cup Quarter-finals at 11:45 hrs.

The winners of the last 16 matches between 3rd placed and 2nd placed teams of the group phase will play the first match at home against a winner of the last 16 matches between 4th placed and 1st placed teams of the group phase.

There will be no protection from the teams from the same country or from the teams from the same group of the group phase.

The matches of the quarter-finals will be played as first and second leg matches. The winning teams of the quarter-finals qualify for the VELUX EHF FINAL4 in Cologne (1 and 2 June 2013).

The teams from Pot 2 will be drawn against teams from Pot 1.

Draw of the Men´s EHF Cup Quarter-finals

Only on the last day of the group phase (Sunday 24 March) it will be confirmed how many quarter-finals will be played. The organisers of the EHF Cup Finals (18 and 19 May 2013) HBC Nantes have already secured the berth in the quarter-finals, but if they do not finish on the last position of the rankings of the second placed teams, they will qualify directly for the final weekend and only three quarter-finals will be played. If the French club ends up on the last position among the second ranked teams, the standard procedure with eight teams and four quarter-finals will follow.

Before the last round only two teams - Rhein Neckar Löwen and SC Magdeburg have clinched the top spots in their groups and still six teams are vying for the remaining four, respectively five quarter-finals tickets.

Draw procedure:
The two teams from Pot 2 will be drawn against two teams from Pot 1. Teams from Pot 2 will play the 1st leg on the home court. The remaining two teams from Pot 1 will be drawn against each other, the team drawn first will play the first leg on the home court. There will be no protection from teams from the same country, but teams from the same group of the group phase cannot face each other. Teams from Pot 2 will play the 1st leg on the home court.
