'We want to achieve more,' says Wenta

The pairings for the Last 16 of the VELUX EHF Champions League has left us with some interesting matches; undoubtedly one of the most intriguing ties is that of Pick Szeged and Vive Targi Kielce.

Bogdan Wenta’s team finished the VELUX EHF Champions League Group Phase with a perfect 10 win record. He speaks to ehfCL.com ahead of the game against Pick Szeged.

ehfCL.com: How do you evaluate the Group Phase for Vive Targi Kielce?

Bogdan Wenta: I am satisfied with our results in the Group Phase. We won important matches in Skopje and Valenje. They were tough games for us and I realised that we had a bit of luck in this phase.

ehfCL.com: What is your opinion about your next opponent?

Bogdan Wenta: Our next opponent is very strong and a good team with many experienced players.

They play at this level regularly and contain many Hungarian national team members as well as other internationals.  It will be a very difficult match for my team.

ehfCL.com: What does the participation in the VELUX EHF Champions League mean to you and your club?

Bogdan Wenta: We know that we are among the best 16 teams in Europe. It means that we are on track with our progression, but it is also an inspiration for us to work harder, because we want to achieve more.

ehfCL.com: How important is it to play the second match away?

Bogdan Wenta: If we lose on Sunday against Pick Szeged, then we would have a second chance in our hall. It should be bonus for us, but only the matches will tell.

ehfCL.com: What are your team’s ambitions for the rest of the season?

Bogdan Wenta: Now we are focused on the two matches against Pick Szeged, which is our main task now. We will only think about the future after these matches.
