Playing times set for VELUX EHF FINAL4

With almost three months to go until the start of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 2013 in the LANXESS arena, Cologne, the playing times for the four final matches of the VELUX EHF Champions League have been announced by EHF Marketing GmbH.

The playing schedule of the fourth edition of the premier club event of European handball will start on Saturday 1 June at 15.15 hrs with the first semi-final followed by the second semi-final at 18.00 hrs. The placement match for the 3rd/4th position is set for Sunday 2 June at 15.15 hrs and the final for 18.00 hrs.

Following discussions with television rights holders to ensure the best possible exposure for the event on television screens around the world and also to guarantee an unforgettable experience for the 20,000 fans in the LANXESS arena, Cologne, the timings will be the same for the third year in a row.

Four participating teams still have to make their way to Cologne through two knockout rounds – last 16 and quarter-finals. The defending champions THW Kiel from Germany will take on Russia´s Chekhovskie Medvedi and the record seven-time winners FC Barcelona Intersport will face Danish side Bjerringbro Silkeborg in the last 16.

The first leg of the last 16 is scheduled for 14-17 March, the second leg will be played one week later. The quarter-finals will take place in April and the draw of the VELUX EHF FINAL4 will follow on Thursday 2 May.
