Kolding miss Boldsen to injury – comeback for Krogh Jeppesen

KIF Kolding may be missing Joachim Boldsen for the rest of the EHF Cup. The 34 year old former national team player for Denmark sustained a muscle injury in his right arm during Kolding´s match against TMS Ringsted in the Danish league Wednesday evening.

The injury requires surgery which Boldsen is going to undergo next Tuesday. After that the experienced defender is looking at a break of several weeks, maybe up to three months.

“The accident did not even take place in a shot, but in a tackle in the defence. Now we have to look for other solutions in our defence,” KIF Kolding´s head coach Peter Bredsdorff-Larsen explained towards eurohandball.com.

Such a solution seems to be another former national team player. Lars Krogh Jeppesen has been included in Kolding´s squad for the home match against Tatran Prešov in the EHF Cup Sunday. The match will be live streamed on ehfTV.com.

33 year old Krogh Jeppesen, who has a past career in SG Flensburg Handewitt, THW Kiel and FC Barcelona, joined Kolding from Danish league colleagues Bjerringbro-Silkeborg in the summer of 2010. However, a foot injury sustained in the first test match for his new club sidelined him for a year, and subsequently his contract with Kolding was cancelled.

Jeppesen then started out for 1. Division club HC Fyn, but that club went bankrupt and he returned to Kolding, this time to a combined job as assistant coach and sales assistant.

The match against Tatran Prešov will therefore be his actual debut for Kolding, if he is sent on.

“Lars has a lot of experienced from some of the greatest clubs in the world, and he knows Lars Jørgensen, whom he is going to play alongside in the defence, from the national team,” Peter Bredsdorff-Larsen said.

Kolding is pretty severely hit by injuries at the moment. As eurohandball.com has reported earlier, left winger Stefan Hundstrup is sidelined probably for the entire EHF Cup group phase after a heel operation, and there is also doubt about right winger Simon Jensen who had to out sit the league match Wednesday due to shoulder problems.

“We still hope to get Simon fit for Sunday, though,” Bredsdorff-Larsen told eurohandball.com.
