EHF prolongs agreement with Air Structures International

The European Handball Federation has renewed the existing cooperation with British company Air Structures International (ASI), providing an additional contingent of iGoals and iLites to further promote its grassroots initiatives in handball.

The unique feature of the iGoals, which are two metres in width and three metres in height, is that the goalposts are inflatable, making them easy to carry due to their light-weight, easy to set up as they inflate in seconds and furthermore very safe to use in all circumstances.

The newly acquired iLites adhere to similar safety features as a small but strong floodlight sits on top of extendable plastic pole. Just six iLites are able to light up an area larger than the regular handball court of 40m x 20m.

"The iGoals are a great product as they solve the problem that otherwise handball can only be played with a relatively complicated set-up," said Helmut Hoeritsch, coordinator for the EHF's Competence and Academy Network (CAN).

"It's a huge support for our grassroots initiatives and we will be using the new products for our development programmes, such as mini handball or the one goal game, that we have launched with several national federations.

"iGoals are absolutely safe to use and can be used by physical education teachers even if there is very limited space available in gym," added Hoeritsch.

"iLites help especially those federations which only have very a limited number of indoor courts available and are therefore forced to play handball outside."

The new acquisition of iGoals and iLites follows the signing of a first cooperation deal between the EHF and ASI in April 2011.

"Handball was not that popular but it has become a very interesting market for us," said ASI General Manager, Peter Rose. "Especially since the boost for the sport that has been ongoing since the London 2012 Olympic Games."
