International Sports Press Association nominates championship in Serbia under the category 'Best Press Facilities' 2012
Men's EHF EURO 2012 media facilities shortlisted
The International Sports Press Association (AIPS) has nominted the 2012 Men's EHF European Handball Championship as one of the best press facilities in 2012.
The championship, which took place in Novi Sad, Vrsac, Nis and Belgrade in Serbia, in January 2012 attracted over 1,300 media representatives from around the world to the two-week event.
Over 150 media volunteers and a professional team of media managers from the Serbian Handball Federation and European Handball Federation were responsilble for managing the media facilities in five venues across the country.
The Men's EHF EURO 2012 is shortlisted amongst some of the major international events of the year, including:
London 2012 Olympic Games (Great Britain)
Euro 2012 - Football (Poland/Ukraine)
IAAF Indoor World Championships – Athletics - Istanbul (Turkey)
European Championships - Athletics - Helsinki (Finland)
EHF European Championships Men - Handball - Belgrade (Serbia)
Wimbledon - Tennis - London (Great Britain)
ISU World Championships - Figure Skating Nice (France)
European Championships - Swimming Debrecen (Hungary)
11th FINA World Championships (25m) Swimming Istanbul (Turkey)
Handball also features in the nominations for team of the year with the Olympic women's champions, Norway, and the men's champions, France, nominated.
Serbia is hosting the women's edition of the European Handball Federation's flagship national team event - the EHF EURO - from 4 to 16 December 2012.
International sports journalists, who are members of the International Sports Press Association, can vote on the AIPS official website.
