One race, two winners, more projects

The tug-of-war between the fans of Vive Targi Kielce and MKB Veszprém KC came to a stalemate this week. Normally, a draw brings no winning side in the world of team sports, but thanks to a Solomon´s (and generous) solution from the competition´s organiser - the VELUX Group, this race has two victorious chariots.

The title sponsor of the VELUX EHF Champions League organized the competition “Support your team” for fan clubs of all 24 European top flight participants on the website handballenergy.com. Handball supporters from all over the continent could support their favourite team in the tournament and win 3,000 euro for the team’s official fan club with the biggest number of votes.

From the early stages of the race several weeks ago, only two serious contenders emerged and their competition was just another piece of a puzzle underlining the long tradition of fierce, but fair-play encounters between the Polish and Hungarian champions.

In the both clubs´ history in the VELUX EHF Champions League, their matches (mainly won by Veszprém, but most recently by Kielce) have always embodied the true spirit of friendship and sportsmanship not only on the court, but on the stands too.

Therefore the result of the competition on handballenergy.com could not have ended in better way, despite the fact that the feverish activity of both camps sent the voting system to its knees several hours before the official end.

Both fan clubs had received about 7,500 votes and due to this fact and to technical problems, the VELUX Group has decided to declare both as winners of the competition. In addition, the VELUX Group has thrown in an additional 3,000 euro, so that both fan clubs will receive the full prize to be spent on fan activities at a VELUX EHF Champions
League match.

Even before any money could be paid the fan competition itself generated several interesting fan projects with the aim of recruiting more support for the clubs. For example, in Kielce the fan club organized a competition in which they encouraged fans to send photos and videos to promote voting for Vive.
