Ólafsson: We have to remain concentrated all the time

Vive Targi Kielce took two points from the from the Hala M.O.S.I.R – Legionow, where the Polish club beat HC Metalurg after a nail-biting thriller and made a big step towards winning Group C of the VELUX EHF Champions League.

After falling four goals behind in the first half, the second half was much better for Lino Červar's players, who, thanks to their better defence were able to grab the win in the low scoring encounter.

“We had lots of problems in the attack, we could not fix it, Darko Stanić was incredible that day.

“Our defense also hasn't looked as well as we wanted,” admitted Þórir Ólafsson, Vive Targi Kielce’s right winger.

Bogdan Wenta’s team equalized with Michał Jurecki’s goals 10 minutes into the second half, and the game continues goal for goal until the end of the match.

The two teams were finally separated by a single goal at the end of the exciting contest.

“We played better in the second half and could do what we discussed in the dressing room at half time.

The key to winning the match against HC Metalurg was to improve our play in defence and a great game by our goalkeeper who made some super saves,” added Ólafsson

Aleksandar Petrovsky, HC Metalurg’s assistant coach, praised their opponent after the match.

“I congratulate Vive Targi Kielce for the good result today and first place in our group.

“They were better, but they also had more luck. We had our chances, but we were not able to use them.”

After winning a match in the domestic league, Vive Targi Kielce face Bjerringbro-Silkeborg on Saturday in Denmark.

The match will be opportunity for Bogdan Wenta's team to strengthen their lead in Group C, but it will not be an easy task. 

“If we want to win at the Silkeborg-Hallerne we have to cut out our mistakes and remain concentrated all the time. It will be a though match for us,” warned Ólafsson.
