Gille to miss next VELUX EHF Champions League and may miss World Championship
Bertrand Gille out for at least a month
Bertrand Gille, Chambéry's pivot, has injured himself last Wednesday during the game against Saint Raphael.
Just one minute after entering the game, he suffered "a torn muscle in the thigh which will keep him away from the court for a least four weeks," according to the French team's doctor Pierre Sebastien.
There was talk within Chambéry's staff that Gille could even be out for six weeks, preventing him from taking part in the World Championship in Spain next January.
It has been an unlucky year for Chambéry injury-wise, since Bertrand Gille is the sixth player to be out injured since the beginning of the season.
Mario Cavalli said to the newspaper L'Equipe: "We're very unlucky this season. It happens at the worst of times, since we've got some very important matches coming up, against Cesson and Montpellier in the French league, plus we've got the Final Four of the League Cup in ten days.
“But we'll carry on, just like we've carried on since the beginning of the season."
