Qualification tournaments awarded

The European Handball Federation has awarded the qualification tournaments for the 2013 Women's 19 EHF EURO in Denmark.

The qualification matches for the event will be played in form of tournaments at one venue from Friday, 17 May 2013 to Sunday, 19 May 2013.

The tournaments have been awarded as follows:

  • Group 1 with Hungary, Cezch Republic, Israel and Ukraine will be organised by Czech Republic
  • Group 2 with France, Portugal, Montenegro and Italy will be organised by France
  • Group 4 with Romania, Poland, Slovenia and Great Britain will be organised by Romania
  • Group 5 with Netherlands, Austria, Bulgaria and Armenia will be organised by Austria
  • Group 6 with Croatia, Spain, Lithuania and Switzerland will be organised by Croatia
  • Group 7 with Slovakia, Iceland, Serbia and Moldova will be organised by Slovakia

Three nations have already qualified: Denmark as the organiser as well as the second ranked team from the 2011 Women's 17 European Championship. Norway as the winner of the same tournament and Russia as the third ranked nation in 2011.

The remaining 28 teams will vie for 13 open places.

The host of Group 3 with Sweden, Germany, Turkey and Finland has yet to be determined.

All four teams seeded in Group 4 have agreed to play the qualification tournament already from 29 to 31 March 2013 as the original playing dates coincided with the final high school exams in Poland.
