BLOG: I do everything I can to get a chance to prove myself

Stefan Terzić is a young Serbian right back with a bright future ahead. At just 18 years-old, he has two international appearances for the Serbian national team. Stefan is one of the youngest players in the German Bundesliga and he blogs about his first season with HSV Hamburg.

My first days in Hamburg were a little bit difficult, when you take into account that it was the beginning of my first professional experience abroad.

I was nervous, how it would be, what the players would think of me, and would they accept me. That was normal due to the fact that previously I could only watch most of them on TV, I had huge respect for all of them.

Only few days after preparation began, I realized that there is nothing to be afraid of. All team members accepted me very quickly and I became a real HSV player. They have seen that even though I am the youngest on the team, I can play with and against them on the same level.
The atmosphere is always super in the team. We are relaxed on trainings, there is no any kind of serious pressure, despite the fact that HSV play big matches every few days.

Most of the players are experienced professionals and they know how to live with that, but not me. Honestly, I could not sleep before the matches with Grosswallstadt, Flensburg, Kiel, Medvedi, and RNL.

Every single match in the Bundesliga or the VELUX EHF Champions League is a real pleasure and adventure for me. Every day in O2 Arena is something fantastic and incredible.

Most of the players have not had a break during summer, because of the Olympic Games in London, so that is the biggest reason why we are hot and cold in regards to our form. I think this is a normal phase for a great team such as HSV.

Atletico, Kiel, and other big names of European handball are experiencing the same problems at the moment. We need time and I hope that all the big names will have a quality finish to the season.

Training sessions with Blaženko Lacković, Dule Duvnjak, Lijewski, Lindberg, and other team-mates are incredible experience for any player at my age.

I am always ready to hear any word from them. Actually, every critical word I understand as advice. Personally, my favorite is Blaženko, who helps me a lot on the court, but also in every-day life.

I have been working hard for the last few months. I am also trying to practice with the second team of HSV and I do everything I can to get a chance to prove myself.

My “five minutes” are coming. The Coach gives me more and more oportunities to play and feel the big scene. The German Bundesliga and Champions League are the best of the best and I am proud to be here in this team with these people.
