Women's EHF Champions League Main Round Groups

Following completion of the Group Matches stage last weekend, the draw of the two groups for the Main Round of Women’s EHF Champions League were carried out on Tuesday, 20 November 2012 at the EHF Office in Vienna.

The reigning champions from Budućnost will launch their Main Round campaign on 2/3 February on the court of their last season´s final opponents in Györ, Hungary, the other two teams in Group 1 are EHF Champions League winners from Larvik, Norway and Danish side Randers HK.

One of the hottest contenders for the finals Oltchim Vâlcea will carry on with their quest for the maiden trophy in Group 2 together with two former EHF Champions League winners Slovenia´s Krim Mercator Ljubljana (2001 and 2003) and Russia´s Zvezda Zvenigorod (2008). The fourth team is FTC Rail Cargo Hungaria, the winner of Cup Winners´ Cup previous two seasons.

Match schedule

The six rounds of the Main Round are planned to be played on the following dates:
•    Round 1: 2/3 February 2013
•    Round 2: 9/10 February 2013
•    Round 3: 16/17 February 2013
•    Round 4: 2/3 March 2013
•    Round 5: 9/10 March 2013
•    Round 6: 16/17 March 2013
The provisional fixtures can be found here, the detailed match schedule, including dates, throw-off times and playing venues will be published in due time.

Playing modus

In the Main Round, the teams placed first and second in the Group Matches meet in two groups of four teams each.

After six rounds the final ranking of the Main Round will automatically determine the four teams playing in the semi-finals, no separate draw will be necessary.

The second of Main Round Group 2 will meet the winner of Group 1, and the second of Main Round Group 1 will meet the winner of Group 2, with the first named teams playing the first match at home.
