Andrea Lekić speaks about Györ's ambition to go all the way, and the exciting build up to a home EHF EURO championships
BLOG: The most beautiful December in my career
The last five weeks have flown by incredibly fast. When I look back and think about the July 11 and the start of preparation, the Champions League was far, far away…
From this point of view, all our efforts have paid off and because of that, satisfaction is even bigger. Five matches, five wins. We secured first place in the group already.
We have a larger rotation this season and new types of defense, which we are able to play. When you look at statistics, the first thing you notice is the number of goals conceded. We do not give our rivals the chance to play quality attack.
The team is together than last year, we know each other much better and that is reflected on the court and our handball in general.
Our goal is to play in the final again. I hope that experience will be our biggest strength this time.
The time between training, matches and trips we use to learn Hungarian. We have grown not only as a team, but also as Hungarian speakers as you can see from the photo.
December has a special meaning for me. It will be much different from the others in my life and sports career. I will play the EHF EURO 2012 in my country, in the city where I was born.
Handball people know how Serbia got this Championship in the first place, that was a big shock for me and my team-mates. From that moment, not a single day passes where I do not think about December….
We have to follow the fantastic example of the men’s team from January, to improve every day during the event. We have to attract fans to come and enjoy time watching us, it makes no sense to be there without them.
I just saw the English version of the official Video and it is great, it could be a real magnet for the fans across Europe. Time is going too fast, December 4 is just behind the corner and I hope that this will be the most beautiful December in my career.
