Women´s Cup Winners´ Cup Round 3, first leg preview

Five national champions and ten participants of the EHF Champions League Qualification Round are on the starting grid of the Cup Winners´ Cup Round 3. The first leg will be played over this weekend (10-11 November), the second leg is scheduled for next weekend (17-18 November).

In total, 24 teams will enter the Round 3. Four more participants will join the competition´s Last 16 from the European top-flight after all four third placed teams of the EHF Champions League Group Matches final standings will be redirected to the Cup Winners´ Cup.

After two years of rule of FTC Rail Cargo Hungaria in the Cup Winners´ Cup there will be a change on the throne, since FTC together with runners-up from Viborg HK and semi-finalists from Dinamo Volgograd play in the top-tier continental club competition.

Only one of the last season´s semi-finalists missed the party in the Europe´s premier league, after HC Leipzig did not succeed in the Wild Card tournament in Issy, France in September. The German club will travel to France again to meet Toulon Saint Cyr Var Handball in the first leg on Sunday.

Macedonian champions WHC Metalurg will play host to Poland´s SPR Lublin twice over the weekend and Slovakian title holders Iuventa Michalovce will face Russian Rostov-Don.

In all-Serbian clash champions RK Zaječar will meet their well-known opponents ŽORK Jagodina.

Only during the second weekend Vistal Łączpol Gdynia, defending the national title in Polish league, will play against Belarusian HC Gomel with both matches in Gdynia and Dutch champions SERCODAK Dalfsen will host both legs of the encounter with Norway´s Byåsen Trondheim.
