After a change of heart, Nikolic comes out of retirement
Julija Nikolic returns to FYR Macedonia
Julia Nikolic will be available to Macedonian coach Gino Strezovski at EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia at the beginning of December, despite the back court player announce her retirement from international handball in June.
Nikolic is a world class all round player, able to play in both defence and attack.
After a conversation between Nikolic and Mihajlo Mihajlovski, President of Macedonia Handball Federation, the Zvezda Zvenigorod player decided to wear the jersey once again.
This gives new hope to the FYR Macedonia national team they can pull off a surprise or two in the group stage.
“I spoke to the president and promised him that I will be available in Serbia.
“Once Elena Gjorgjievska became injured, I felt an obligation to contribute something to the team.
“However, I want this tournament to be my final farewell. I would like to get a big bouquet of flowers as a gift for my retirement,” said Nikolic.
She will participate in the Turchin Cup, held in Ukraine, where FRY Macedonia will take on Ukraine and Hungary. Russia, Netherlands and Czech Republic will be in the other group.
“I will be with the girls, but I have to take care of some private things. I do not know if I will play every match in Kiev, but I am ready for Serbia,” promised Nikolic.
In EHF EURO 2012 in Nis, Macedonia will play against France, Sweden and Denmark in Group B.
