Šabanović: My Atlético dream

Goalkeeper Adnan Šabanović, who has been unveiled as Atlético Madrid’s new player until the end of the season, could not hide his satisfaction with his move to the Spanish team, branding the news: "A dream for any player."

"The dream of every player is coming to Atlético," said Šabanović, who joins to Madrid from Bosnian outfit RK Čelik Zenica.

The 35-year-old has the difficult task of replacing José Javier Hombrados, who will be out of action for at least six months after the anterior cruciate ligament rupture in his left knee.

"I just regret the circumstances that have brought me to this club. I wish Hombrados gets well soon,” said Šabanović. “I hope I meet the expectations of coach Talant Dujshebaev, and the fans.”

But the Bosnian international goalkeeper is confident in his extensive experience, after playing for all the main teams in his country, including HC Bosna Sarajevo with whom he played in the VELUX EHF Champions League in the 2007-2008 and 2008-2009 seasons.

Šabanović, who may make his debut next week with his new club in the Spanish League, will not be able to play for Atlético Madrid in VELUX EHF Champions League until next February, when the winter transfer window closes.

Meanwhile, Atlético de Madrid will play its matches of the VELUX EHF Champions League with Norwegian Magnus Dahl and young 18-year-old prospect Antonio Díez.
