EHF EURO ticket sale booming
The early stages of selling tickets for the EHF EURO 2012 in December suggest that the event is going to draw big crowds for each and every game of the 16-nation tournament in four Serbian cities.
With the tried and tested venues being the same as for the Men’s European Championship, held in January, the women’s EURO has also attracted huge interest throughout Europe.
Fans from most teams taking part have already booked multi-game ticket sets and those looking to buy them online at a 20 percent discount rate still have a week to so, with the deadline set for October 15.
After that, daily tickets will be on sale throughout the Championship.
“The sale is three weeks old and we have already sold 19,000 sets of tickets, to fans from Norway, Denmark, Romania, FYR Macedonia, Montenegro, Hungary and Serbia itself,” Biljana Djokic, the Serbian Handball Federation’s (RSS) ticket sale manager, said in a statement released to eurohandball.com.
“Many Hungarian handball clubs are eager to allocate tickets while there is also high demand for single match tickets involving Romania’s games,” she said.
Serbia will need the home fans to turn up in droves to fill the imposing Kombank Arena, a 20,000-seater where the host nation will play their Preliminary Round and Main Round matches, should they advance to the second stage of the competition.
The other three venues – the SPENS Arena in Novi Sad, the Cair Sports Centre in Nis and Vrsac’s Millennium Hall - will in all likelihood be thronged throughout the European Championship by visiting fans craving to see their teams in action.
