Győri’s Eduarda Amorim excited to play for title
Last season's finalist Győri Audi ETO KC are one of the favourite in the 2012-13 Women’s EHF Champions League. Ahead of their first match against Podravka, ehfCL.com spoke to their Brazilian back player Eduarda Amorim.
ehfCL.com: What are your first thoughts about your new coach Ambros Martín?
Eduarda Amorim: Training is great – very dynamic. Every coach has a different mentality and I think we are fitting well into his style. He is trying to bring out the best in the team, especially in defence which I think can give us more success this season.
ehfCL.com: Győr had a shorter time to get ready for the Women´s EHF Champions League because of the Olymic Games. Do you think you have had enough time to prepare?
Eduarda Amorim: Yes it was short, but I believe it was enough time to get in shape. We had some Hungarian matches to adapt to the coach’s style and to get the new players used to the way we play. Of course we still have some details to improve, but we are working hard as a team and I believe we are ready for the first matches.
ehfCL.com: How did your new team-mates fit in to the team?
Eduarda Amorim: I think everybody is fitting in well and feeling good. Ambros is rotating the players, so everybody is fit and ready.
ehfCL.com: You will play against Krim, Podravka and Cluj in Group B. What are your expectations?
Eduarda Amorim: I am looking forward to the Champions League, especially all the excitement it brings and to hear our fans supporting us again. I think it is going to be a hard group but I believe in our team and I am confident we can get good results. We are thinking game by game to do our best and step by step to reach the next stage.
ehfCL.com: How fresh are you physically and mentally after a tiring summer with the Olympics, for example?
Eduarda Amorim: I am feeling great and motivated, our coach was very perceptive and gave us two weeks rest for the Olympic players. I was able to go to the beach some days, to have a good rest and recharge my batteries. When I came back I was ready to start the season.
ehfCL.com: Itxako will not participate in the Women´s EHF Champions League and Buducnost is much weaker now. Who do you think will be your biggest rivals for the trophy?
Eduarda Amorim: I cannot say right now. Many teams have changed their players and now we are going to see how they play. I could say Oltchim Vâlcea, but you always get surprises in the Champions League. As I said first, we are focusing on getting through to the next stage, we will think about the finals later
