Søren Simonsen admitted to MESGO programme

Søren Simonsen, Head of the Development Department of the Danish Handball Federation, has been selected as one of 20 participants for the second edition of the unique MESGO programme.

The Executive Master in European Sport Governance (MESGO) is a platform designed for elected representatives and managerial staff of sports organisations providing them with training, social and professional contacts, knowledge-sharing opportunities and personal development.

It was was launched by five universities internationally recognised in the field of sport governance.

The twenty participants, managers and executives coming from all over Europe (Russia, Spain, Italy, Macedonia, Lithuania, Denmark, etc.) and from Qatar, will benefit from nine one-week sessions and cover the main stakes that the sport industry faces nowadays: ethics, marketing, European legal framework, sports events, etc.

The European Handball Federation as one of the six members of the Association of European Team Sports supports MESGO.

"With the increasing political, economic, and legal intervention in the running of professional sport in Europe, managers working within this environment are constantly being faced with a myriad of challenges," says EHF General Secretary Michael Wiederer.

"The MESGO programme has therefore been tailored in a way to develop an in-depth understanding of these issues and provide creative ways of how sport managers can adapt their strategies to cope effectively with these ongoing demands."

In the past Søren Simonsen worked as project manager handball for children and youth at the Danish Handball Federation. He was also a coach at the Suphanburi Sports School in Thailand as well as a supervisor of the Thailand Handball Association.
