Almost 40,000 euro to be donated to Deutsche Krebshilfe from the VELUX EHF FINAL4 2012
Charity partnership supports cancer care
EHF Marketing GmbH, organiser of the VELUX EHF FINAL4, has confirmed the final amount to be donated to its charity partner, Deutsche Krebshilfe (German Cancer Aid), from the 2012 event in Cologne.
A total amount of €38,826.13 has been raised for the care of cancer patients and research into the disease, the largest amount to be donated to a charity partner since the event began in 2010.
The 40,000 fans, who watched the VELUX EHF FINAL4 on Saturday 26 May and Sunday 27 May 2012, also played their part in supporting this good cause, with a percentage of every ticket purchased donated to Deutsche Krebshilfe.
A new event – the VELUX EHF FINAL4 Charity Gold Tournament – supported by adidas and held during the VELUX EHF FINAL4 weekend attracted considerable interest as well as celebrity and amateur players. All proceeds from the event went to supporting cancer care.
Peter Vargo, Managing Director of EHF Marketing GmbH, said: “We are delighted to be able to donate the largest amount yet to our VELUX EHF FINAL4 charity partner, Deutsche Krebshilfe. Through the organisation of the very first Charity Golf Tournament we were able to involve not only amateur golf players but also personalities in supporting this good cause – a clear sign that our cooperation with Deutsche Krebshilfe is a success:”
Gerd Nettekoven, Managing Director, Deutsche Krebshilfe said: “Through the cooperation and social partnership with the Deutsche Krebshilfe, both the EHF and EHF Marketing have once again shown their support for those suffering from cancer. For this very special cooperation, I would like to thank them in the name of Deutsche Krebshilfe.”
An extension to the partnership between EHF Marketing and Deutsche Krebshilfe for the 2013 event, which will return to the LANXESS arena in Cologne on 1/2 June 2013, is now under discussion between the partners.
