Heads of delegations meet in Belgrade

The Head of Delegations Conference, an integral part of the preparation for the Women's EHF EURO in December in Serbia, took place in Belgrade from Friday to Sunday (September 28 to 30).

Officials of the European Handball Federation, including Chairman of the Competitions Commission Leopold Kalin, members of the tournament's Organising Committee including Bozidar Djurkovic, General Manager EHF EURO 2012, as well as delegates from the 16 participating nations convened to discuss various organisational and technical topics regarding the preparation of the event.

Serbia's State Secretary for Sport, Predrag Peruničić, welcomed all participants to Serbia and wished them successful preparations.

Saturday started with an EHF information session during which topics such as regulations, the competition structure, referees' and delegates' matters, players' clothing, logistics, infrastructure and ceremonies were discussed.

The day concluded with a visit to Belgrade's Kombank Arena, the EHF EURO's largest venue, which can seat more than 20,000 fans, will host 20 matches overall from the Group Phase to the Final, and a second information session, this time hosted by the Organising Committee.

On Sunday the respective venue teams visited their venues in the four hosting cities Belgrade (Kombank Arena), Novi Sad (Spens Arena), Niš (Sportski Centar Cair) and Vršac (Millenium Hall).

"It was a very well organised conference with a great atmosphere and very motivated participants," said EHF Event Coordinator Monika Flixeder.

"It could be seen that Serbia hosted the Men's EHF EURO in January. They benefit from this and even try to improve the organisational circumstances for the women's event."
