Krokhin named Russian interim coach

The Russian Handball Union has announced an interim solution for the currently vacant position of the women’s national team coach.

Former assistant coach Vitaly Krokhin will be responsible for the Russian team at the Golden League tournament in Aarhus, Denmark, which will played from 5 to 7 October, as the federation announced on their website.

Russia will face current Olympic, world and EHF EURO champions Norway, host Denmark and 2011 world championship runners-up France as a preparation for the 2012 EHF EURO in Serbia.

At the beginning of September the Russian Handball Union had announced that the contract of coach Evgeny Trefilow had not been extended after missing the semi-finals at the Olympic Games.

Since September 5 experienced coaches can apply for this position, the deadline for applications is September 28 and the federation will name the new head coach beginning of October.
