The European second-tier club competition goes on with 26 teams in action during the weekend
Fifteen matches will conclude Round 1
The match between Haukar Hafnafjördur (ISL) and HC Mojkovac (MNE) on Friday 14 September will start the race of 24 teams for 12 remaining places in the Round 2 of the new Men´s EHF Cup. The first leg will be completed on Saturday with a duel of KIF Kolding and London GD, the remaining matches of the second leg will be played over Saturday and Sunday.
There is also one ticket to the Round 3 at the stake because the better team of both legs between KH BESA Famiglia and RK "Borac m:tel" Banja Luka will pass by Round 2.
Five teams - Permskie Medvedi (RUS), HC Kumanovo (MKD), HC Meshkov Brest (BLR), Tauron Stal Mielec (POL) and Balatonfüredi KSE (HUN) already clinched their spots in Round 2 as they played both legs against their opponents during the last weekend. And thirteen more clubs entered the EHF Cup as they failed to make it through to the Group Phase of the VELUX EHF Champions League qualification last weekend.
Before the season the Men’s EHF Cup and the Men’s Cup Winners’ Cup have joined together to create a three tier men’s competition system, with the VELUX EHF Champions League as the premium product, followed by the new EHF Cup and then Challenge Cup.
