Partizan in the tough Group C
In the famous Banjica hall in Belgrade, RK Partizan Beograd came out on top against Sloga Doboj 31:16 in VELUX EHF Champions League Qualification. This Serbian outfit became the first in history to play for the second time in a row in the elite competition of European handball.
“The most important thing for us and for Serbian handball in general is that we will spend another whole winter in Europe,“ commented RK Partizan’s coach Aleksandar Brković. The youngest coach in the history of the VELUX EHF Champions League discussed Group C with SG Flensburg-Handewitt, HSV Handball, Montpellier Agglommeration HB, Chekhovskie Medvedi and Reale Ademar León with ehfCl.com.
ehfCL.com: How are you feeling about being drawn in Group C?
Aleksandar Brković: “We did not have as much luck as last season. I would be much more satisfied with the group Metalurg is in, for example. However, you can’t change that. We will fight for every single point, to improve our position.
ehfCL.com: Who is the favourite for Group C?
Aleksandar Brković: Our group is really tough, in my opinion, the toughest along with Group D. SG Flensburg are the favourites to win the group, but there are also Medvedi, a fantastic team, their squad is practically the Russian national team. Montpellier and HSV have a good chance to reach the Last 16. Ademar Leon and ourselves don’t have a great chance to reach the Last 16, but we are ready to fight for every single point in all ten matches.
ehfCL.com: The general opinion is that RK Partizan Beograd have the biggest chance to win some points against Spaniards?
Aleksandar Brković: I agree, however, Ademar Leon have one of the best Spanish and European coaches, in Manolo Cadenas. He is the biggest force behind the Spanish team.
