Vučićević fired from Metalurg, Rakčević missing

Metalurg has fired left handed Milan Vučićević, just three days before some of the most important games of the season for the club, as they travel to Norway to compete in qualification for a place in the Group Phase of the VELUX EHF Champions League.

The Macedonian champions will travel to Norway without the right back.

Vučićević joined Metalurg as a great reinforcement, but has departed as a big disappointment for the club from Skopje.

Dissatisfied with his performance, the club's management decided to terminate the contract prematurely.

Coach Lino Červar announced that he is not satisfied that the club does not have a good player in the right back position - a player on the same level as Žarko Marković, who left the club as part of the club's deal with Frisch Auf Göppingen.

Line player, Mladen Rakčević, will also be missing from the team line-up this weekend, not having fully recovered from a knee injury.

On Saturday, Metalurg play versus Alpla Hard in first semi-final in Group 2. Besides Alpla Hard - Metalurg in same tournament Dinamo Poltava and Haslum will compete.

The winner of Qualification Tournament in Norway will qualify for Group C of the Group Phase together with Bjerringbro Silkeborg/DEN, Gorenje Velenje/SLO, Vive Targi Kielce/POL, Chambery Savoie/FRA and HC St. Petersburg/RUS.
