THW Kiel sign Olympic silver medallist

THW Kiel have announced the signing of the Swedish national team player, Niclas Ekberg.

The 23 year old right winger has signed a three year contract until 30 June 2015.

Ekberg was playing his club handball in Denmark with AG Kobenhavn last season but has been looking for a new contract since the side went into liquidation.

Commenting on the move to the THW Kiel club website, he said: “I am really happy that there has been such a positive conclusion after a difficult few weeks.

“It has always been a dream of mine to wear the THW Kiel shirt and to play in front of so many fans. It is naturally an honour to join the ranks of so many Swedish stars who have played for THW Kiel and had great success with the club."

Ekberg was part of the silver medal winning squad at London 2012 and topped the competition’s top goal scorer rankings with 50 goals.
