Squad changes in Plock

Polish team Orlen Wisla Plock have made some major changes to their squad over the summer as the team prepares for the VELUX EHF Champions League Wildcard Tournament in France on 8 and 9 September 2012.

Seven players left the club while four players signed new contracts with the Polish team.

Goalkeepers Morten Seier and Bartosz Dudek have left the team. Seier decided to end his career while Dudek joined MSPR Siodemka Legnica.

Two left wings also left Polish runner-up; Joakim Bäckström signed a contract with Norwegian club Haugaland Håndballklubb and Kenneth Olsen will play for Lemvig Thyboron Handbold, a Danish club.

Centre back Luka Dobelsek will go back to Slovenia where he will be playing for Gorenje Velenje who face the Polish champion, Vive Targi Kielce in the Group Phase of the VELUX EHF Champions League. Grzegorz Gomolka and Arkadiusz Miszka will join MKS Piotrkowianin Piotrków Trybunalski playing in the Polish league.

Balkan newcomers

Orlen Wisla Plock also signed four new players.

Right wing Valentin Marian Ghionea, started his professional career at HC Minaur Baia Mare, he played for the Romanian champion, HCM Constanta, who met Orlen Wisla Plock in the VELUX EHF Champions League in the last season.

“The club management has big plans for the future. Here in Plock, I feel that there are people who share my ambitions. Our plan for the upcoming season is simple: we want to win at least one title,” said Ghionea on his decision to join in Polish club.

Petar Nenadic is another new reinforcement for Orlen Wisla Plock. The Polish runners-up announced that they signed a two year contract with the silver medallist from EHF EURO 2012.

Ivan Nikčević will arrive in Plock from the Spanish club Cuatro Rayas BM Valladolid. The left wing was a part of the Serbian handball team at the Olympic Games in London.

Goalkeeper, Marin Šego will also move from HC Croatia Osiguranje Zagreb to Poland.

Orlen Wisla Plock will participate in the VELUX EHF Champions League Wildcard Tournament. In the semi-final, the Polish team faces HSV Hamburg, possible opponents for the final are RK Cimos Koper and the host Saint-Raphael Var Handball.
