Swedish international Fredrik Petersen is the latest signing in Northen Germany
Hamburg sign Swedish winger
HSV Handball Hamburg continue to reinforce their squad for the coming season, where the ambitious North German club hopes to return to the podium in the Bundesliga and to qualify for the VELUX EHF Champions League.
On Monday, 20 August, HSV signed Swedish international Fredrik Petersen on a one year contract.
The 28 year-old left winger, who can also play in the playmaker position, has played for several years in Denmark, first for GOG, then for Bjerringbro-Silkeborg in the EHF Champions League. Last year the team were runners up in the Danish league.
Before this season he signed a contract with Danish champions and Cup winners AG København, but since the Copenhagen club went bankrupt on July 31, Petersen has been looking for a new employer.
“This is just great! HSV is a team which can win titles, and I believe we get a team there that will just as great, as AG København was!” Fredrik Petersen said, as the contract was announced.
Petersen was part of the Swedish national team that won the silver medal at the recent London Olympics, where he scored 27 goals.
