Bjerringbro Silkeborg make new signing
The 25-year old Danish line player, Henrik Toft Hansen has signed a two years contract with Danish league runners-up, Bjerringbro Silkeborg. After several weeks of uncertainty due to the bankruptcy of AG Kobenhavn, the younger of the Toft Hansen brothers has found a new team for the coming season.
“I am glad that I have clarified my future after a turbulent couple of weeks,” he told the club’s official website. “When you've been through chaos, security becomes an important factor. Bjerringbro-Silkeborg has a stabile financial base.”
Besides that, he emphasised the sporting opportunities in the Jutland’s club, which has replaced AG Kobenhavn in the VELUX EHF Champions League in the coming season.
He continued: “Bjerringbro-Silkeborg have established themselves as one of the top players in the Danish league. That makes it an attractive place to play. In addition, the club will play in the Champions League and it is obviously also a big plus for me.”
Hansen spent only a single season at AG Kobenhavn, who finished third in last season’s VELUX EHF Champions League competition.
Henrik Toft Hansen is the younger brother of national team member René Toft Hansen, both played at EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia, where Denmark won the gold medal.
He gained his first VELUX EHF Champions League experience with Aab Handbold in the 2010/11 season , where he played a few years before moving to AGK.
Bjerringbro-Silkeborg are happy with their new signing. Their coach, Carsten Albrektsen, said: “As the situation evolved in Copenhagen, I thought as a very good possibility that we could sign a player like Henrik Toft Hansen.
“His qualities cannot be doubted – he is skilled both offensively and defensively and can add elements to our game, that we are missing, and he fits perfectly into the squad. He is Danish and he is young player with potential.”
Bjerringbro-Silkeborg's coach is looking to Henrik Toft Hansen as a reinforcement for the squad for the 10 matches in the upcoming season in the VELUX EHF Champions League.
“With the qualities he has, he could reinforce any team, including ours, so with the circumstances now are as they are, we are pleased to have him in our squad over the next two season,” Albrektsen concluded.
Mads Larsen Mensah moves to AaB Handbold
Another former AG Kobenhavn player, Mads Larsen Mensah, has accepted a new challenge with one of the best Danish teams, AaB Handbold.
One of the biggest Danish handball talent secured his future for the next three seasons.
