A fresh start for RK Krim Mercator
After three unsuccessful attempts to reach the Semi-Finals of the EHF Champions League, RK Krim Mercator have completely renovated their squad before the start of the 2012/13 season.
The Slovenian club has seen the departure of numerous players (Ačimović, Franić, Šerić, Koren, Bille-Hansen, Guberinič), however, the club has made some important signings. Linnea Torstensen, Gabriella Kain, Carmen Martin, Katarina Krpež, Nina Wörz, Susann Müller, Daniela Piedade are some of the top-quality players who will be central to the plans of the club next season.
Tiselj needs time with the new squad
"I have said on a few occasions; we are thinking about the future, you cannot achieve results in one year," says coach Tiselj, who was himself, twice Champions League champion. Tiselj continued: "We have a much stronger team than last year since we had a wider range of players to choose from on the transfer market. Krim's problem is that the team is changing each season. However, I am sure we have a great team that can match the top teams in Europe."
On Monday 23 July the squad - minus seven players who are on the way to Olympic Games in London - will meet in Ljubljana. "All the teams across Europe have the same problem. We have to be creative and diligent to be prepared for the end of October," explained Tiselj.
"Who will get opportunity to play? The players who will work the hardest in training. It does not matter where the players come from," commented Tiselj, who has 11 foreign and 5 Slovenian players at his disposal.
Krim have formed a superb team on the paper, but they will have to show more stamina in the more crucial moments of big games if the Slovenian champion wants, once again, to become the European Champion.
