The German side have plenty of new options in their ranks, like Steffen Weinhold from TV Großwallstadt and Maik Machulla from ASV Hamm
SG Flensburg-Handewitt: No problems with squad numbers
Despite the absence of six Olympians, SG Flensburg-Handewitt has no shortage of personnel for pre-season and VELUX EHF Champions League preparation.
Coach Ljubomir Vranjes started by putting his squad through their paces; cycling, weights and dumbbells lift were on the program.
Ljubomir Vranjes commented about the preparation phase "I am satisfied, they are in good shape."
The squad continue their preparation without the likes of Thomas Mogensen, Michael Knudsen, Anders Eggert, Lasse Svan Hansen, Tobias Karlsson and Mattias Andersson, who all have Olympic duty in London this summer.
They will rejoin the squad on the 13th August, a mere eight days before the domestic 2012/2013 season will throw off.
"After a big tournament it always takes time until a player is really back into the swing of things in his club team," said Ljubomir Vranjes.
Vranjes is glad to have some new personnel in his ranks; Steffen Weinhold (TV Großwallstadt) and Maik Machulla (ASV Hamm) are well motivated for their first session with their new club.
"The change is a big challenge for me," said Steffen Weinhold.
The squad also hosts young talents like Morten Dibbert and Malte Voigt.
With the return of Holger Glandorf from a four-week rehabilitation program the squad is starting to look ready for the coming season. The right back had an injury in his foot since April.
Now he is working on his comeback - step by step. His foot should not be put under too much strain.
"I feel quite good in training and I can keep up with the rest of the squad," said Holger Glandorf after the first training.
