Martinez resigns at Ademar Leon

Isidoro Martinez has resigned as coach of top Spanish club Ademar Leon. After the 30:34 defeat in the league match against FC Barcelona Intersport, Martinez explained the reasons for his decision and is reported in several Spanish media as saying: "There is a breaking-off between the fans and me. Criticism is one thing, but I will not tolerate those insults."

Martinez, formerly assistant coach of Ademar and later coach of the Spanish junior national team, had returned to Leon just before this season. Thanks to their incredible home strength the team reached the quarter finals of the VELUX EHF Champions League, but was then eliminated despite a 34:23 victory in the first leg by Füchse Berlin.

In the Spanish league Leon had secured third spot and direct qualification for the 2012/13 VELUX EHF Champions League season below Barcelona and Madrid.

The Asobal league season ends next Saturday with the match at VELUX EHF FINAL4 finalist Atletico Madrid, and Martinez, who had just extended his contract until 2013, confirmed that this will be his last match as the coach of Ademar.
