Young foxes will have training camp and cheer for their older club mates at the VELUX EHF FINAL4.
Füchse youth teams will support Berlin in Cologne
Three top youth teams (A, B, C) of Füchse Berlin (13-18 years old) will travel to the VELUX EHF FINAL4 this weekend (26 and 27 May) to support and cheer for their men’s team in Cologne who face THW Kiel in the semi-finals.
The Füchse 'A' youth team are currently fighting for the final of the youth Bundesliga and have won the first leg of their semi-final against Grosswallstadt 35:29. They will have a training camp to help them to prepare to defend their German youth title, alongside the 13-16 year old youngsters who will also have test matches around the VELUX EHF FINAL4 weekend. “They deserve it after a great season,” said club manager and youth coordinator Bob Hanning about the trip in his weekly column at www.bobhanning.de.
To reach the final VELUX EHF Champions League destination Cologne is “just incredible” for Hanning. “One year ago we could not even imagine in our wildest dreams about being part of the VELUX EHF FINAL4," he enthused about being part of the "elite" tournament.
Hanning hopes that “at a certain time and at a certain place” his team might have a chance to beat THW Kiel and that Berlin have "to be ready for this moment," but stresses that THW Kiel are the clear favourites.
And for Sunday – no matter what the result of Saturday’s match Hanning says everyone is a winner. "All Füchse fans are supporters of THW Kiel," he explained, "they have played a sensational season and on Sunday I do not begrudge them a victory wth all of my heart."
