Rutenka, Saric and Rocas extend contracts.
Laszlo Nagy will leave FC Barcelona
Defending VELUX EHF Champions League champions FC Barcelona Intersport today (Wednesday 2 May) announced that their team captain Laszlo Nagy will leave them.
Manager Enric Masip said that his club tried everything to hold on to Nagy, who lifted the VELUX EHF Champions League trophy last season, but was quoted by the Spanish media as saying "but (he) Nagy still decided to leave us". Masip also detailed the long and intensive negotiations held by the handball section, the coaches and even FCB club President Sandro Rossell with the player.
"We were surprised when Nagy announced last week via Twitter that he is supposed to change clubs after 12 years," Masip said.
"There is a buy-out clause in Nagy’s contract that he can leave the club before the end of the contract," he said.
Away from Nagy, Barca announced extended contracts for some players after their elimination from the VELUX EHF Champions League against AG Kobenhavn. Siarhei Rutenka has signed a contract until 2016, whilst Danijel Saric and Albert Rocas have already signed for two more years. "We are keeping the backbone of our team," Masip said.
