Swedish goalkeeper remains a Zebra until 2014
Palicka extends contract in Kiel
Swedish national team goalkeeper Andreas Palicka has extended his contract at record-breaking German champions THW Kiel until 2014 – with the option of an extension for an additional year. Palicka (Junior World Champion 2007) transferred from Gothenburg to Kiel in 2008 and shares the goalkeeping role with Frenchman Thierry Omeyer, who will leave for Montpellier in 2013.
"I have so many goals to be reached with Kiel – one is to become number one. So I am proud to be part of this fantastic team in the future," said 25-year-old Palicka, winner of the VELUX EHF Champions League 2010 in explaining why he has signed an extension.
With Palicka’s signature, THW's planning for next season is finished: Daniel Kubes (Melsungen), Tobias Reichmann (Wetzlar), Henrik Lundström (Gothenburg) and Milutin Dragicevic (destination currently unknown) will leave the club, while Patrick Wiencek (Gummersbach) and the VELUX EHF Champions League participants Rene Toft Hansen, Gudjon Valur Sigurdsson (both AG Kobenhavn) and Marko Vujin (MKB Veszprem) will join THW as newcomers.
Kiel face RK Croatia Osiguranje Zagreb in the quarter finals of the VELUX EHF Champions League this Saturday and upcoming Sunday.
