EHF Men's 20 European Championship Final Tournament Draw

The EHF Headquarters in Vienna will be the setting for the Final Tournament Draw of the EHF Men's 20 European Championship 2012 today (Friday 13 April) at 11:30am (local time).

The draw will be live on the special liveticker HERE.

The tournament is for players born in 1992 or younger and will take place in the Ankara Arena, Ankara and the Besyo Hall in Eskisehir between 5 and 15 July 2012.

Sixteen teams will battle for the title, with three nations already directly qualified: hosts Turkey, Croatia and Spain – winners and runners-up of the EHF Men's 18 European Championship 2010 respectively.

13 teams have qualified for the final tournament through the qualification round which took place between 6 and 8 April 2012.

Directly qualified for the EHF Men's 20 European Championship 2012: CRO, ESP, TUR

Qualified from EHF Men's 20 European Championship 2012 Qualification:
First ranked teams: DEN, GER, FRA, NOR, SWE, POR, ISL, POL
Second ranked teams: RUS, CZE, SLO, SRB, SUI

Participating teams are seeded as follows (based on the ranking of the EHF Men's 18 European Championship 2010, updated with results from the EHF Men's 20 European Championship 2012 qualification):

POT 1: CRO, ESP, DEN, GER
POT 2: FRA, NOR, SWE, POL
POT 3: ISL, POR, TUR, SRB
POT 4: SUI, SLO, RUS, CZE

1st step of draw: Teams of Pot 4 are drawn to Row 4
2nd step of draw: Teams of Pot 2 are drawn to Row 2
3rd step of draw: Teams of Pot 1 are drawn to Row 1
4th step of draw: Teams of Pot 3 are drawn to Row 3

The organiser TUR (Pot 3) has the right to choose the group after the Rows 4, 2 and 1 are determined.
