EHF Men's 20 European Championship Final Tournament Draw
The EHF Headquarters in Vienna will be the setting for the Final Tournament Draw of the EHF Men's 20 European Championship 2012. Taking place on Friday 13 April at 11:30, all teams who qualified through the qualification tournaments will
The tournament is for players born in 1992 or younger and will take place in the Ankara Arena, Ankara and the Besyo Hall in Eskisehir between 5 and 15 July 2012.
Sixteen teams will battle for the title, with three nations already directly qualified: hosts Turkey, Croatia and Spain – winners and runners-up of the EHF Men's 18 European Championship 2010 respectively.
The remaining 13 teams will qualify for the final tournament through the qualification that will be carried out between 6 and 8 April 2012.
The qualification groups were drawn on 18 November 2011 at the Eventpyramide Vösendorf, south of Vienna (AUT) on the occasion of the Conference for Secretaries General, at the 20th Anniversary of the European Handball Federation.
29 national teams will take part in the qualification round, drawn into eight groups – five groups of four teams and three groups of three teams.
13 teams from the qualification round will join Turkey, Croatia and Spain, in Groups 1-5 the top two teams will qualify, whilst the group winner only will qualify from Groups 6-8.
Group 1: Denmark, Russia, Belarus, Belgium
Group 2: Germany, Czech Republic, Netherlands, Ukraine
Group 3: France, Slovenia, Romania, Hungary
Group 4: Serbia, Norway, Israel, Austria
Group 5: Switzerland, Sweden, Latvia, Montenegro
Group 6: Portugal, Slovakia, Bulgaria
Group 7: Iceland, Estonia, Bosnia and Herzegovina
Group 8: Poland, Finland, FYR Macedonia
