Slovenia without Natek and Bilbija

Ten days before EHF EURO 2012 starts, it is clear: Slovenia will have to find a way to the Main Round without two of their key players, Jure Natek and Nenad Bilbija.

When the players gathered at the preparation camp in Zreče, Jure Natek informed the national team coach that he cannot help at EHF EURO 2012, as he had suffered an injury in a Bundesliga game. Although doctors tried to resolve the problem, he needed an operation, and now he must rest. The right-back, who was in great form, will be replaced by Jure Dolenec and David Miklavčič.

A similar problem occurred at the left-back position, where Nenad Bilbija was questionable from the beginning of the preparations. The 208 cms-tall player was also injured in Germany, while playing for his club Minden.

Bilbija was hopeful of recovering in time, but both coach and doctor decided it would be too risky for him to play at EURO 2012 in Serbia. The young Borut Mačkovšek will take his place beside the experienced David Špiler.
