Norwegian playmaker is confident and believes in success at the EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia.
Børge Lund: "Anything is possible."
Børge Lund is one of the most experienced Norwegian players – and he is confident that his team can become the big surprise at the EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia. The playmaker hopes for a good start and dreams of reaching the semi-finals, as the biggest Norwegian success up to now has been the sixth place on home ground in 2008.
ehf-euro.com: What will be your major role at the EHF EURO 2012 in Serbia– in defence or attack?
Børge Lund: I hope that my contribution will help the team on both sides.
ehf-euro.com: As an experienced player are you the key figure in the Norwegian attack?
Børge Lund: A centre- back will always have an important role, but the important thing is that all six players on the court fit well together.
ehf-euro.com: What are your objectives for Serbia – personally and as a team?
Børge Lund: Personally, I want to help my team as much as I can. The team's goal is to advance to the Main Round. If we reach this goal, our next aim is to go on to the semi-finals.
ehf-euro.com: What will the final stage of the preparation for Serbia look like?
Børge Lund: Firstly, we have two matches against Egypt in Norway, and then two games against France, in France.
ehf-euro.com: Will there be a huge number of Norwegian fans in Serbia?
Børge Lund: We hope that for the Main Round at least 300 spectators from Norway will support us.
ehf-euro.com: Norway have their first EHF EURO match against Slovenia. How important is a successful start?
Børge Lund: A good start is always important, especially in EHF EURO events, in contrast to World Championships, where you have some easy matches. But the most important thing is to increase the quality and confidence during the tournament.
ehf-euro.com: You’ve already played a preparation tournament in Serbia. How do you estimate the atmosphere in the arenas?
Børge Lund: I remember a good mood there, considering that we played against Slovenia and Croatia. When I’ve been to Serbia, luckily there was always a good atmosphere.
ehf-euro.com: Will Norway be able to cause a real big surprise in Serbia?
Børge Lund: Anything is possible as long as one believes in it.
