First EHF Scientific Conference and Publication Launch taking place in Vienna

The first EHF Scientific Conference is taking place in Vienna on Friday 18 and Saturday 19 November as part of the EHF 20 Year Anniversary celebrations.

The EHF and the Union of University Handball Teachers (UUHT) have joined together to produce a publication entitled ‘Science and Analytical Expertise in Handball (Scientific and Practical Approaches)’ which will presented alongside a number of lectures and workshops.

Over the past year handball experts from across Europe were asked to submit articles under the following headings ‘Humanities’, ‘Natural Sciences’ and ‘Training and the Game’.

All received articles were reviewed and then published in the Science and Analytical Expertise in Handball (Scientific and Practical Approaches) publication which will be handed out to those attending the two day course.

The goal of the conference is to bring professional and scientific experts together in order to describe and formulate problems of modern handball on all organisational levels and forms (male/female, youth, beach handball, street handball, disability handball) and to bridge the gap between science and practice in handball.

The conference will be opened with a keynote speech entitled ‘Phenomenon Handball’ by Dr. Frantisek Taborsky, Chairman of the EHF Methods Commission.

The ‘Science and Analytical Expertise in Handball (Scientific and Practical Approaches)’ publication will be available for free download as a PDF on www.eurohandball.com from Wednesday 16 November 2011.
