Faroe Islands triumph in Ireland

The Group Stage of the 7th edition of the IHF/EHF Men’s Challenge Trophy was carried out over this weekend. On 4-6 November 2011, four national teams met in Ireland and four others in Malta to play out the two finalists.

Group A’s tournament was played in the University of Limerick Arena in Limerick, Ireland. Ireland organised this event for the second time. Beside the national teams from Georgia, the Faroe Islands, England and hosts Ireland battling for victory, the occasion was used for the transfer of know-how and exchanges regarding handball refereeing and coaching with focus on development and professionalism.

Final in Belgrade in 2012

The group victory takes the Faroe Islands to the final match, which will be played in the Pionir Arena, Belgrade (SRB), on Saturday 21 January 2012 within the framework of the EHF EURO 2012.

Their opponents will be Moldova, who were victorious in the Group B tournament in Malta.
