Move to Montenegro fuelled by ambition

The 21-year-old line player moved from Ljubljana to last year´s semi-finalist of the EHF Champions League, Budućnost Podgorica, with the aim of celebrating titles. So far, the Montenegrin champions have succeeded in winning all of their games. Cvijić talks to ehfCL.com about her move, the colleagues at her new club, and her aims for season 2011/2012.

ehfCL.com: Five games - five victories in the EHF Champions League. Is everyone in the Budućnost crew happy with the results and the qualification to the Main Round? What do you remember of the matches?

Dragana Cvijić: We are feeling very good about the results so far. We look forward to further games, but do not have much time for celebration. Some important matches are still to be played and we wish to meet the goal we set for this season.

ehfCL.com: You moved to Podgorica from Ljubljana. How well do you feel now and how is your integration process ongoing?

Dragana Cvijić: I feel very good in Montenegro, and I was made very welcome by my colleagues. I knew most of them before, so the process of fitting-in was much easier.

ehfCL.com: The experienced Ana Đokić (nicknamed Siki) is the other line-player of the team. Are you friendly colleagues or is it more like a competition between you two as to who is the first-choice starter?

Dragana Cvijić: Siki and I get along very well, both on-court and off. She is very experienced and I get lots of advice directly from her. We have a common goal in that both of us want to achieve things in the best possible way, so there is no rivalry between us.

ehfCL.com: You´ve switched from a female coach (Marta Bon) to a male (Dragan Adžić). Do you work well with Dragan, and how would you describe him?

Dragana Cvijić: Dragan Adžić is an extremely professional trainer, and very dedicated to his work.

ehfCL.com: At your previous club KRIM, you played together with your Serbian National Team colleague Andrea Lekić. Do you miss the on-court play with her, and have you been following Andrea at her current club Győri AUDI ETO, probably the toughest team to beat for EHF CL victory this season!?

Dragana Cvijić: Andrea is a great person, and a big friend of mine, so of course, I miss her. It’s a blessing to have such kind and nice person next to you. I’ve been following her performances at Győr and I hope that we’ll meet in the finals of the EHF Champions League.

ehfCL.com: What are your personal goals for this season?

Dragana Cvijić: I always set the highest goals in my career, which is why I picked Budućnost as my new club.
