Kamto: "Our aim is to pass the Group Phase"
Her whole handball career Nina Kamto Njitam has been playing for the new French champions Metz. She is also an important part of the French national team.
In this interview about the club’s EHF Champions League campaign, Nina talks about her goals and the unusual playing skirts that her side wears during their games.
ehfCL.com: What are your reflections after the game against Győri AUDI ETO?
Nina Kamto: It was a tough match to play after having beaten Hypo Niederösterreich in Round 1. The Hungarians had lost in Randers and we expected them to go all-out for victory.
Unfortunately we conceded too many easy goals and were not often able to break through their defensive wall.
ehfCL.com: Next you will play against Randers, who will miss their goalkeeper Chana Masson for this match. What are your expectations?
Nina Kamto: It will be another exciting game for sure, as the Danes have a good team as well. Our aim is to pass the Group Phase and reach the Main Round, therefore we’ll give our utmost. It will be tough, as Randers have shown how good they are and they never give up fighting.
ehfCL.com: The second line player of the team is Yvette Broch, the Dutch international. Are you a good duo?
Nina Kamto: It was our coach, Sébastien Gardillou’s idea to bring her to the team. She is a tall quality player, and as we are different in height, she’s a good substitute for me. We can use more variation in attack.
ehfCL.com: Tell me something about those unusual skirts that you wear instead of shorts?
Nina Kamto: This is something we have used for quite a while, it was the idea of our president Thierry Weizman. It is more feminine, and it shows that we are a women’s team!
Since we’ve worn the skirts, we’ve had lots of requests for photo shoots. Personally, I enjoy it!
