Heads of Delegations conference

There are only a little more than three months left until the Men's EHF EURO 2012 is thrown off on 15 January 2012 in Serbia. The preparations for the major event are in full swing.

Between 6 and 8 October 2011 an important coordination workshop took place, when the Heads of Delegations conference gathered representatives of all sixteen teams participating at the EHF EURO 2012 in Belgrade (SRB), the Serbian Handball Federation and the EHF.

Team representatives stayed in the official team hotel in Belgrade and had the opportunity to experience the services on offer within the hotel.

The 16 team representatives were welcomed at an official dinner by Serbia's Minister of Sports and Youth, Snežana Samardžić-Marković, who stated Serbia is looking forward to hosting all teams at the major tournament in January.

The dinner took place in a restaurant owned by the former Serbian national player Dragan Skrbic, who was also involved in drawing the balls for the EHF EURO 2012 Preliminary Round groups.

The team representatives were provided crucial information about the event and reminded of important deadlines by the EHF. Information provided included details about the extended competition period, further qualification after the EHF EURO, procedures and guidelines regarding the event and in depth explanations of various regulations.

Due to the close location of the team hotel to the Beogradska Arena, after a lunch break all team representatives were given a short tour of the venue for the Main Round and the Final Round.

The second part of the conference included a presentation from the Serbian local organising committee, where teams were provided with information regarding ticketing, accommodation and logistics in order to pass on the information to their team members.

Team representatives were then taken on guided tours of their Preliminary Round venues, where they had a first chance to inspect playing halls, training facilities and team hotels.

This part of the Heads of Delegations conference provided teams the opportunity to meet members of the local organising committees and to attend a promotional activity within the host cities which included a countdown clock being started in order to highlight only 100 days to go until the start of the championship.
